Leaving PwC Public Sector Advisory, sitting with HR for my exit interview soon. Any recommendations for what we should/should not discuss?

Just say you had an amazing time and loved your experience and just wanted a different opportunity. Do not say anything real since you always want to leave the door open.

like

When I left industry I told them the exit interview process was broken and useless. So I didn't do one.

like

@OP. You say nothing. Think about it this way, you're leaving the company and you say that John is the worst boss ever and was the sole reason you decided to leave. They look at John and talk to him about what you said, John knows you burned him but EY also sees that he has had straight top ratings and support of many PPDs, so he stays. What do you get? You burned a door with John and every future company he goes to and EY thinks you hated your experience so will not consider you for other positions, what exactly do you gain?

Thanks D1, excellent advice. Taking your point a bit further-- what if I entirely avoid saying anything about people or biz units, but instead mention certain problems/circumstances that led me to leave the firm?

like

OP it's clear you have specific issues you want to address and get resolved. Here's my advice, HR for a company that has 200K+ employees will do nothing. If you want change to happen, talk to your mentor at the firm who is actually at a high enough level to care and can work to push that change if it's important enough. Your comments in employee departure folder 500,103 will not do anything except leave a paper trail of your unhappiness at the firm.

like

Agreed. Do not burn any bridges.

Ditto @D1. Where you going?

Tell them you did not feel partner-track was mutually beneficial to either party at this time. But you love the company and the people.

So what happens if he say certain people sucked? Assuming they really sucked

Thanks for the thoughts-- definitely dont want to burn bridges with PwC, but D2's comment above hits the nail on the head. What do I say, if anything, about the people and experiences central to my decision to leave the firm?

Be honest not disrespectful.

Hiring managers: How is the interview process like at your company and how much say do you have when it comes to choosing that candidate?

I had a behavioral interview with a manager from another team and a case study with the hiring manager. They both took notes as I gave my answers but the first manager was very disinterested from the get go and was distracted as he kept looking away from the screen.

I’m wondering how much influence the first manager has since I’m not sure what he’s writing

Can someone please explain to me what it means when people on here make job referral requests?

I thought referrals happen when the person being requested to refer you has personal faith in your talents due to knowing a thing or two about you/what you have to offer.

So then how does it work when strangers on Fishbowl anonymously request referrals from other strangers?

Guess I’m trying to understand how to leverage and use referral requests for myself if needed.

Got my MBB offer as an Exp Hire! A few insights from my case prep. I practiced ~10 cases solo using Case Coach videos. I'd watch the interviewer speak, pause the video, practice (speak out loud, ask questions, explain my approach, even time myself), then play to see what the candidate did, and evaluate myself for gaps.

I also learned the evaluation criteria and internalized the generic case frameworks.

I do work in consulting and had done live case interviews 5 years ago

HR is scheduling the interviews without checking time with me. One interview was scheduled and then it was rescheduled to a different time at last minute. I wasn't available at that time so I mailed the HR for a different slot. They again scheduled it for a later date without checking the time with me.

Was hoping AMZN would be higher but they pegged the role a lvl lower than originally discussed during the process...so here we are.

Not sure if I should play my hand and push for more to stay or if they will just say "wait 5 weeks or here is the door"
