Left a company 4 months ago after seeing the writing on the wall (multiple rounds of layoffs, budget cuts, people jumping ship, worsening culture from leadership). Apparently they cleaned house after I left and axed my old boss and others too.

Now I’m sitting in a nice big office instead of a cube I have to reserve, making $50k/yr more, with even better hours. So glad I didn’t listen to people saying to stay put. Trust your gut y’all.

They did not have a detailed discussion regarding the compensation .
But they told i will be getting link for uploading documents and then hr would be discussing for compensation.
Its been 2 days. No update. Can anyone guide. Why 2 hr rounds ? N how much time it takes?

Are there any fundamental differences between a salary negotiation during the start (applying for the job) vs. Salary negotiation during a performance review (you’ve been employed for x time and looking for a raise). I’m in the latter and wondering if there are any maneuvers that are different I should be doing.

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

When my job is to handle all the corporations issues does it ever get hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel? Like that this business will survive? It will get its next round of funding? This litigation won’t wipe us out… something’s I just become very pessimistic about the future of the company.

Currently working in-house for a large bio pharma - like the company and most of the people, but the work is really getting monotonous and I just leaned through the grapevine that I am making significantly less money ($15k to $30k) than others in the same level/grade as me. Outside counsel has been prepping company witnesses for a trial in August. It is my subject area so I am supervising outside counsel. I did not, however, choose the counsel. He is doing a really awful job. Co counsel is better, but not great either. Higher ups love the firm… I do not want to micromanage, but I have genuine concerns about outside counsel’s ability to try this case. Trials are rare, and I just don’t think these guys have actually tried many cases. Cont. below…
