Let’s settle this once and for all. The word "niche" should only have one pronunciation and it should be "neesh" not "nitch"

Webster's considers both as correct.

Helpful, and correct. I just looked this up too

Where do people say it like “nitch”? Is this like how regionally people say foyer differently?

like

I say neesh, also Philly. Now I am going to bring this up with my friends. I am a transplant here from Chicago and maybe this word just hasn’t come up in the 18 years that I have been here.

Why should it have only one pronunciation? Both are fine

Neesh

I pronounce it “nick-hee”

Agree

"When I find a niche, I scratch it!" - Lou Costello

I’ve always thought of them as different words. Interesting. Niche is definitely niche tho. But you can use niche when you mean niche

OMG predictions for 2017?

Hello All, my joining date needs to be extended by 5 days in JPMC and HR said in call that no revised offer letter based on new joining date will be issued and new joining date confirmation will be somewhat communicated prior to 3 days of onboarding.
However he mentioned he will reply back with a confirmation email on top of the email which I have sent requesting for revised joining date.
Do you see any risk of offer cancellation/revocation here?

For those who moved from a client serving role to an internal role in public accounting while at a fairly high level (experienced manager or senior manager), did you take a pay cut or does your pay stay flat when you transition with minimal increases in subsequent years? Also what role are you in now? I really like EY and the company. I’d like to look at moving to an internal role but I’m worried I’ve priced myself out (currently at around 140k comp in LCOL).

A year ago I moved to an HCOL area to accept a new position, however, I do not go into the office daily. I just go whenever my team needs to be in office. Was wondering has anyone moved out of an HCOL area to save money on rent and was it frowned upon when your firm found out? With inflation and rent going up I’m considering moving 3 hours away where rent is half the cost I’m paying now.

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.
