Letting go of “hero mode” was harder than I expected.
Being the go-to problem solver feels good, but it doesn’t scale. How did you transition away from that?

If I'm reading this correctly, you were spreading yourself too thin and trying to solve everyone else's problems. You're right, that can feel good but it can also undermine your own work and wellbeing. I was always cautious about that sort of thing because I knew the story about the guy in the canoe. He tries to rescue someone in the water and capsizes his own boat.

Yep, exactly the lesson learned.

Take your power back by not extending help to others especially if it is not your responsibility. Watching them struggle gives me satisfaction and proves my point that I am surrounded by idiots.

This made me chuckle

It’s so hard to go from being the “go-to” person to focusing on your own work. But being the problem solver comes with its own challenges. It might take some time, but the sooner you start stepping back from being the go-to person, the easier it will become.

My joining date is coming closer, however education background checks are still processing ( international degrees) . My onboarding coordinator told me that I can still join even if education check is still in progress, provided there wont be any flags. I don’t see any issue with my degrees and have done same with my past companies.
Anyone experienced this ? Any problem joining while check is processing ?

I'm in finance/tech FPA, looking to go back to the defense industry for a 25% increase in TC. But wanted to see if I should leverage the new salary with current company to see if they'll match.

Background: got a promotion at current company that didn't come with sufficient increase . After stating my case I was told it would be evaluated next October, which is what prompted the initial job search.

Current TC 103K [88/15], offer 125k base [+discretionary bonus].

I applied to a job at KPMG and did the first two rounds of interviews, general interview, then case study and competency. Never before have I had such a positive feedback at the end of an interview of the 2nd, both said really like me, I did well etc.
It's now been 3 weeks since the interview and I still haven't heard back from the team other than the odd HR email saying they are following up with them. Is there something going on internally, I.e hiring freeze in the London office atm?
