My plastic foldout chair from IKEA is not as bad as one would think.

Someone will recommend an Aeron and then 1000 other people will recommend some obscure chairs that are waaaay better.

Get an Aeron chair. I’ve had so many back problems until I got one of these chairs. They are expensive but well worth it. Think of it as a tool like your computer, you spend so much time in it, invest in a good chair. You can even find used Aeron chairs that are just as reliable and easy to upgrade because they are modular. The parts are readily available on eBay I have 3 that I bought used and upgraded. Two are 20 years old and one is 5 years old. They are super reliable. I will never buy another office chair again. My family likes them too.

Good luck to those who are going into their first busy season! Yes, it’s daunting at first - we’ve all been there (albeit, not in a remote environment amidst a pandemic.) My best advice is to take one day at a time (marathon, not a sprint). Remember audit/tax/consulting is not life or death, and you WILL make it through. Have patience with yourself and your teams. Find a mentor! Don’t forget you can always find some moral support (read: self-deprecating humor) in your fellow fish!
