What are your priorities? What does your ideal day/week/life look like?
I took a high paying job that I wasn’t in love with, but it was because my husband is quite a bit older than me and I wanted to be in a position to retire early with him. That was my trade off.
Do you find your new role fulfilling and rewarding? It doesn’t sound necessarily like it’s now or never with the counseling, and careers are rarely linear. Could you do one or the other and then come back? Will experience in one or the other better serve you in the long run?
