Always go with an attorney. I have had to clean up probate messes from online Wills on countless occasions.
If that attorney is too high, seek out another, don't think that their quote is the standard.
Just to clarify- it’s not a DIY form. The plan they are offering starts with consulting with a lawyer but just not sure the quality of the lawyer. I guess I m asking how important is that or is it pretty straightforward for lawyers?
I am always surprised that people ask about legal zoom. Everyone thinks their plan is simple. Legal zoom is not the answer. It is a diy form, read their contract. You get a 30 min call with “an attorney” and then legal zoom docs. Legal zoom, Dave Ramsey, Susie Ormand - all offer fill in the blank docs. All have been sued for unauthorized practice of law.
Do not use legal zoom there are a lot of state laws that can override wills if the laws are not taken into consideration I.e spousal rights elective share etc
T&E specialist here. The lawyer is worth the money. You mostly get what you pay for with estate planning.
I completely agree, please do not use legal zoom. Seek out another attorney that has experience and practices only in that area. There are a lot of different options out there that you would be better off exhausting before resorting to legal zoom.
