2 weeks into the gig, you're going to get a 1-on-1 pop up from your boss. They'll tell you that feedback is that you aren't online and available all the time.
You'll remind them you are only 20 hours. They'll say they understand.
2 weeks later, you'll get a 1-on-1 with someone from finance. They'll tell you you cannot bill for wait time. You explain you've been told to be available all day.
2 weeks after that, you'll get fired.
That seems reasonable. Say you can’t reserve the time without a commitment of a minimum number of hours. Otherwise, if they can’t guarantee work, you can’t guarantee availability.
Yes to this. Also… just go for the 20 (not 16hrs). Mirror their language / expectation.
Very timely post as I’m dealing with the same. Just landed a gig and it was a bait and switch from FT to PT and the duration changed. They’re all trying to milk us dry yet not pay us what we’re worth.
Oh and do I have a response? It’s only good if you control the contract as most agencies have the power. I have tried bucking the system and the squeaky wheel won’t get any oil…

Maybe not until Q1. Everyone is milking right now for Q4.
Greetings. Does anyone here know of any companies that hire WFH jobs globally. I am in the NGO field - (monitoring and evaluation, ngo business processes, human-centric empowerment, project coordination................)
I am also able to take on the following roles, administration, training and facilitation, quality analyst, customer service, data entry and operations.
I will be gratful for your feedback and your recommendations.
Thank you.
