I don’t have a weekend rate. Just an hourly rate and a day rate. I’ll work whenever — I like to make it easy to hire me.
@c1 has the answer. Being a freelancer means having lots of quick authorization emails.
When I give my rate I say ‘my weekday rate is xxx’ and leave it at that. Then I give weekend rates as they come up.
So you worked today too, I take it?

Ha, no. Just setting up my next gig.
I'm upfront with discussions about rates (including overtime). It's hard to negotiate after the fact.
Ask how the agency pays and what format they’d like rates in, some do hourly, some do say rates and some do weekly. Make sure to ask what expectations are and provide a rate accordingly. I’ve been at agencies that have a day rate and you have to account for some of those days will be weekends. I’ve also been at agencies where the rate is for the week and you win when there’s a holiday and get paid an extra day or two but you have to account for the fact you’ll need to work a couple weekends each quarter as a trade off.
Providing an hourly rate initially and asking their pay structure is always easiest for me.
