Any tips on how to start and prepare my MBA Application? I don’t plan on applying till 2022 as I want to attend in 2023. What are things I can do to prepare now in order to have a strong application? Background: I’m aiming for HSW, M7, and top 15. I’m currently a Staff at EY within Business Consulting. I graduated from a Top 25 Business Undergrad - majoring in Finance and minor in Advertising with a 3.71 GPA. I want to pivot towards PM or Corporate Strategy in Tech, at Toyota, or Nike. TIA!

Not worth it for FT MBA. If you are staying local and can do PT, that could work for your situation.
If you are hoping to switch careers into management consulting or banking, then programs outside the T15 with good ROI and national placement are few and far between.
Nah and if you say it’s the best in TX, almost anyone would roll their eyes
No MBA is worth it unless it is a full-time T20. And even then M7 is preferable.
If you just want to further your education and getting an MBA is a life goal then sure, get the MBA at UTD. But you aren’t going to see a return on that investment, at least fiscally that is.
Now if your employer is willing to pay for a part time mba while you continue to work then sure go ahead and do it as it’s free. But again only if you aren’t interested in doing the full time t20 programs.
For Texas, nothing short of Rice is appreciable. And it needs to be the main, full time MBA.
I would recommend you move states, and look for a top25 or even top15 if you are really focused on that ROI.
A1 my point exactly. Under Top 25, MBA is no use for true career advancement
I would do Rice or McCombs
No.
Thank you for your advice. I appreciate it !
Rising Star
Never even heard of UT Dallas
It’s better to pursue a skill then higher education.
UT Dallas ranks below UT Austin (McCombs) and Rice for sure. It may also rank lower than Southern Methodist University (SMU). UTD has been slowly climbing up the ranks and in the UT system, it’s only second to UT (Austin). I am a graduate of Jindal myself but not in MBA. They have a traditional MBA and an executive MBA program. The executive MBA cost about $95k and is a 2 year program. You have to graduate with your “cohorts”. If you pick the traditional MBA, you have up to 6 years to graduate. Jindal is widely recognized in Texas but if you want the notoriety and the big payout, then it’s UT, Rice or SMU. Executive MBA at those places cost more than $100k. One of my relatives graduated from SMU ($125k), paid for by the company he works at. Can’t say much but the networking was worth more than the education. He had some business men and bankers as his classmate.
