Hello,
I am a graduating student interested in Tech consulting - specifically IT with an interest in cybersecurity Analysis. I plan to pursue certifications and studied EE w a minor in business.
Anyone have any advice for me seeking to go into this field?
There’s a high need and low amount of talent for this field, but I am very willing/able to learn. I enjoyed my networking and cybersecurity courses which has brought me here. FireEye EY Deloitte IBM Optiv Inc. Cisco Accenture

What’s the difference between BA and consulting?
I got a Boston Consulting Group employee to refer me. Got the referral link instantly but I can't seem to see any AC roles on the Job posting site. My link was some brassring referral link and it had some 807 openings but no AC roles. I have reached back to my contact to figure out what's up with this. Anyone from the firm has any idea or any candidate had a similar experience ? My referee didn't ask me for any office preference or anything just fyi.
what is new BA salary at McK?
You can expect MBB associates/consultants to be paid around RM 30k to RM 36k a month.
@OP, it's very good based on local cost of living. Major expenses below are in monthly terms:
1. Rent. Prime location in city centre where MBBs are will cost anywhere from RM 2k to RM4k for 2 bedroom condo. If you want to live just across the Twin Towers, you pay about RM 4k.
2. Transport per person. Expect to pay around RM 200 for work commute within KL and another RM 300 for ride-sharing services on weekends when you visit other towns near KL.
3. Food per person. Food in the city centre costs more and the range depends on what you eat. Assuming you only eat out and have local food (the cheap option), you would spend RM 1k to RM1.5k. If you have about 3 nicer meals and drinks a week, you would spend about RM 2k to RM 3k.
4. Fun. Sky's the limit but RM 1.5k is enough for a person's backpacking trip in Southeast Asia for one weekend. This includes flights and Airbnb.
Spouse is Malaysian, if that has any effect on my chances.
Where you from bro
I did. But they have very few data points and low confidence in the range.
So are you coming?
Definitely interested! Thanks for the insights, very helpful. Now I just need to do some networking and getting in touch with the recruiter to discuss my case. :)
Good luck. Let me know how it goes.
Any update on comp?
