Talk to a therapist, not your Mom. (Or your friends). Point is our parents often don't understand our lives - or even theirs. They mean well but tend to just want to fix/band aid what they are hearing instead of listening and understanding.
Yeah, I hear you, hence my tack on about understanding friends. I'm just sharing from the perspective of a 58 year old guy who went round and round his entire life with a dynamic you describe between myself and my own mother. At a certain point, late in life and our relationship, I simply had to come to terms with her limited emotional capacities and stop wishing for and wanting her to be something she wasn't capable of being. For all of her flaws, she did love me, and I had to make an effort to meet her where she was rather than lamenting what she was not. Best of luck to you!
Just a thought-instead of a weekend job which you’re not on board with, relook at how you’re spending your money and come up with a budget that allows you to start saving. if you’re buying coffee on the way to work scale back and make it at home, brown bag the lunch, skip the Ubers and use mass transit whatever it takes to get some money you can put towards these clubs you‘re interested in.

You have two roommates and you still pay $1635 in rent? That may be part of your problem.

Boomers don’t live in the same world that we do
My mom’s favorite line is “find a job” like they grow on trees.

Why does it have to be a sports league? Surely there are other social activities you could do that don’t have membership fees.
Also, yes: if you’re only breaking even after rent and bills, get a second job on the weekends.

IPG1: I get it.
OP: I get it, but from 57, 37 looks young.
Awesome, another “Dear Diary…” post.
Or another dear parents who don’t understand our profession
I get what you’re saying about you working a lot, it’s exhausting and hopefully it’ll get better. But there has to be some free groups out there to meet people. I think if you want a high-quality man, just meeting them at church could be very beneficial (totally free), there’s probably some fun, social activities that restaurants like game night. do you work remote or are you going to the office?
I was looking into sport leagues and even that costs money. $100+/- for Volo. 2 days in office though no one socializes (like a glorified call center). Neither solve the single at 37 issue. I’m the man in this equation 🙃.

My mom wants me to quit advertising in order to have more free time and higher pay so I can afford to buy a house and have time to have a family. Like GIRL.. I’m making six-figures and I’m middle-aged.. what kind of salary are you expecting?? You want me to become a doctor at 50 years old???

Remind me again what job has more free time and higher pay?
That escalated quickly.
She gaslights often. I would hope my potential parter doesn’t gaslight. This is a point she brings up often to not meeting anyone saying join something (when I have in the past) then tells me get another job in response to not making enough and likes to call my ex’s fat and chubby and when I tell her to stop she scoffs. My reactions are valid.
Whole convo came about saying i feel behind because all my ex’s are married or married with kids.
what if you try volunteering at a local animal shelter? Walking dogs with the ‘adopt me’ vest could be an opportunity to meet people and help out needy animals. Assuming of course you like dogs.
