Need advice. I’m a super senior content EP at a well known agency in the U.S., where I’ve been for quite some time. Checked out http://Glassdoor.com, and I make at the high end of the ranges for similar agencies. In the past year I’ve also taken on additional responsibilities (outside of traditional EP duties) that have doubled my workload and raised my profile quite a bit. How should I go about brining up a sizable salary bump (some creatives and even planning peeps earn more with much less responsibility)?
Is it okay to call a sick day as freelancers?

Great food in NJ. Italian deli heaven.
Also, lighten up, Francis.
Then don’t take a job there? Stay in the corn fields.
I love living in NJ. You sound like a miserable person - please don’t come here
Go to Newark! It’s really nice there with great people like you!
Maybe don’t take a job where you’ll hate your day to day life.
I understand sacrificing some near-term wants for a longer-term goal. But hating your life for years seems pretty aggressive. Why not just push back your goals a little and not wake up dreading the day?
Anyway, there are places in PA where you can get a lot of land if you don’t mind the drive to NJ. The places in NJ with a lot of land tend to be very expensive.
We don’t want you either.
I’m from north jersey and I WANT him 😬
No advice to give but came here to lend my support to OP. I'm from the Midwest and NJ is the one state I always avoid. There are no redeeming qualities in NJ.

Blueberry wine is also good
Hunterdon County. It’s the countryside and ~35 minutes from the “north Jersey” area.
Don’t do it!!! Born and raised in NJ. Left a few years back - best decision I’ve ever made for my mental health and wallet.
NJ gets such a bad rap but for such a small state, it varies greatly depending on area. There are towns in west morris county that are full of farmland/horse farms with a 20 min commute to parsippany and under an hour to NYC. Someone else mentioned Lambertville/New Hope which is also a beautiful rural area with cute artsy downtowns but further from the places you mentioned. Theres also Bergen county which is more expensive (Glen Rock, Allendale) or even Mahwah which is closer to NY state border and has more rural vibes but easily accessible to NYC.
I live in North Jersey. Please don’t move here. You sound like an Ahole
Why do people have to be so unhelpful and rude? If you can't be nice just scroll past the question!
I'm from Chicago, lived in Jersey for 3 years. It's been a while so I know a lot has changed. I guess it depends on your situation - if you're single and want to meet people, Hoboken is awesome. If you will be working in Bergen County and have a fam, it's beautiful up there (yes, in Jersey) - lots of pretty areas that offer great hiking and outdoor activities. It's a nice change from corn fields and flat land. No matter where you go be prepared it is more expensive and felt a lot more crowded.
Hmm maybe because that’s how op started the entire thread lol

This ultimately depends on where you need to be commuting to.
There are more options in south Jersey and central Jersey, but there are still options in North Jersey, though you are going to also have a rougher commute.
What are your complaints with the northeast? There’s actually a lot of different areas that could potentially minimize those complaints

Summit, NJ is my go-to: very nice downtown and easy train to the city. If you are willing to go further afield then Lambertville, NJ / New Hope, PA are quite nice
New Hope is beautiful
Mendham or Chester for land and good schools

Is it possible to ask for an answer that is actually an oxymoron?
What is your price point? Renting or buying? Where is work? Based on what you said I’m thinking the area west of Parsippany may be more of your speed.
Pennsylvania.
Over an hour from parsippany to penn station with less than 10 stops? What’s wrong with transit there?

The tunnel gets jammed
I think you should stay in the Midwest. Why move and be so negative? There’s more to life than money.
You’re right that there’s more to life than money
That’s why I want to retire in 5 years before my kids finish middle school
Look in Sussex county
