Moderately jealous of all these new first year lawyers posting their swearing in ceremonies with judges they clerked or interned with. I got sworn in by our paralegal wearing at the coffee station because my partner scheduled a CLE I needed to assist with during the ceremonial event. Womp.

Is it normal to be somewhat nervous regarding if I can handle the hours? Or is that a sign I’m not cut out? Feeling some imposter syndrome.
Anyone know where to order (aside from Omega) or who manufactures the rubber pull through strap they use on the new Omega Pelagos FXD? It looks sturdy and nice and thin to not add too much thickness that I’m interested in it for other watches.

As someone with ~1 year of experience and who’s looking to relocate to another city on the east coast, can I reasonably request relocation assistance upon getting an offer?
Does title matter? I’m a Senior 1, I just got an offer for a job as an Auditor 3 (rank before senior at this company). The pay is still a 20% bump from my current and the job description lines up with senior responsibilities. Does it matter if my track looks like I took a demotion?
What do you think about these mid year bonuses?
I’ve seen a lot of talk about what firms are the most toxic, but can we talk about which ones actually have a great culture? What are the best places to work?
I have experience of 6 years in Mainframe testing. And I have received an offer from CBA for 26 LPA(21.6 fixed and rest as variable). And currently working in LTI since 5 months . SO looking at the recession before joining wanted to know about the Job security and work culture of the company?
Meet creative people like you. Thursdays 5-9pm on the rooftop of Virgin Hotels Chicago. Mention “Agency Afterhours” for a creative industry discount on cocktails.
I am looking for change. Can someone refer me please. My core competency is React JS and I have 7+ years of experience in front end web development.

I’m currently a case manager for a federal funded program. My salary is 40k. But the workload and recruitment is challenging. When I got hired they never mention that CM would need to recruit. Is this only at my Organization or it’s every organization that is not a profit also is the pay worth it or the pay should be more???

Any jobs out there that don’t require independent / analytical thinking? Really burnt out from thinking and would love to switch to a more routine position. Yes this is partly imposter syndrome talking.

Any recommendations on relocating to Hawaii? I am registered for the Hawaii bar but currently based out of Los Angeles and practicing in California as a licensed attorney.
I’m an associate at a boutique firm making under market with 1950 hours req. While I absolutely love the people I work with, and I can handle the hour requirement, the work I actually do is just not my cup of tea (abt 80% insurance defense). I’m hoping to lateral to a bigger firm with lockstep or close to lockstep comp and generally more resources/better mentorship opportunities in the business lit./commercial lit. space. Any tips for going about successfully making the switch?
Has anyone transitioned from a case smart attorney position to an associate at Littler? Elsewhere? Is it feasible ?
Nothing like the named partner who you *know* is actively opposed to associate salary increases (despite living in a market where the COL has significantly risen and outpaced general inflation) telling you about how annoying it is to winterize her 4 mega luxury sailboats she has on her waterfront dock. 🙄
Curious to know what other firm's bonus structures are, particularly those with 1900 billable requirement and below. Trying to figure out if my firm's structure is the norm or if the associates are getting screwed.
When is it normal to start taking depositions for a new(er) associate? Entering 3rd year at midsize firm.
Just verbally accepted an offer to become the newest partner at a much bigger firm in town after 5+ years slaving for a smaller firm that told me they would only “let” me be of counsel (and pay rent equal to my current salary) or stay an associate. So long, late nights with no bonuses! Adios, screaming phone calls out of the blue! WOOOOO!!!!!!!!
I have created a bowl for those who want to know more about their potential new firm - ask anonymously and hopefully someone within the firm will respond! Or we can help find the right person for you! Bowl name is biglaw offer - see you there!
I’m a big law attorney and thinking about getting my real estate license (brother is thinking about the same thing, so we’re thinking to go into some RE investing together). Thoughts? I know my firm wouldn’t ever let me actually represent someone as an RE agent, so then I’m wondering if there’s really any value to me getting a license?
HELP! I’ve been contacted by a small private security firm who wants me to be their “on call” counsel. They describe it as a lot of contract review, drafting NDAs, etc. but also being there if/when they need to license a vehicle, defend civil suit, etc. It’s overwhelming but sounds like a really great opportunity. I have enough background to be comfortable with contracts and litigation, but don’t want to get myself into a mess. Has anybody else ever had a job like this?
Tips for becoming more independent as you progress from junior to midlevel? I am starting to be put into the position of just having to handle things including drafting and could use some advice from others.
Any tips on leaving a firm “correctly”? Was about to go “of counsel” with my firm of 6 years, but then another firm whose partners I really respect (and personally like) offered me a partnership position. I predict my current bosses will *flip* (cut off file access immediately, try to beat me to calling my clients, etc.), so how do I set myself up for a successful transition?
Congrats everyone! This week was terrible with omicron, schools closed, backlogged work from the holidays, general malaise from two years of a pandemic, etc. It might have been the most difficult week of my career so far. But, we made it. Kudos to everyone. Here’s hoping that next week is better.
I’m a first year associate (I have been here a month and a half), what am I giving for Christmas to others in the office and who should those others be? Thanks in advance!
Anyone have any fun holiday firm party stories? Ours is coming up this week and I can't wait to see who makes a fool of themself this year! 😂
