Check out high rises in Long Island City. Quick to LGA and easy train to Midtown for weekend.
Astoria -- easy commute to LGA and midtown. Been there 2 years and it's an amazing neighborhood.
Queens?
Define affordable
I'd recommend Astoria, though might be hard with 1.5k. Have you thought about having roommates?
Flushing
Astoria here too! 10/10 we have the best food and the best commute. 2190 rent for a nice 2 bedroom. Downside? The landlords.
Harlem - under 125th street
Queens or LIC shared apartment should meet that requirement.
It's going to be tough with that $. LIC is pretty expensive as well. I currently live at a really nice studio in Astoria for $1800. I am local now and my train ride to midtown is 20mins door to door. When I was traveling my ride to LGA was 12mins. You will get lots of hate for queens on this platform but you do what works the best for you.
And in my mind makes no sense living in Harlem cause it's so far from everything. At that point just look into Queens.
Forest Hills. 15 mins to lga and jfk. Great, safe location with lots of restaurants. Almost had suburb feel with plenty to do. Summer concerts at the forest hills stadium. E, f, m, r trains to manhattan.
Murray Hill
@A1, west or east Harlem?
East Harlem is closest to LGA. Without traffic is 15 mins in an uber - door to door.
I'm coming from West LA with a $1500/mon mortgage condo that I plan to rent out during the next year or two. Moving to NYC for a year or two for unique NE opportunity. So, +/- $1500 range is my initial thought. The place can be a dump to be honest, just needs to be safe.
Totally fine with roommates!
Upper west is very doable with roommates
A3 is right.
There's no place for 1500/MO in Murray Hill..
