My agency is having us do a mid year self evaluation as part of our review. While I think this is a waste of time, I’ve been trying to determine how best to answer the questions about job satisfaction and embodying agency ideals. I’ve been waffling between straight up lying and flaming this place. There are no other Black people at my agency so I worry about being perceived as “angry and/or too relaxed”.

My boss (atty) is so disorganized! I’ve been with him 6 months and he’s having a hard time delegating, sharing info and managing deadlines. I’ve organized the caseload to manage the deadlines. He says he wants me to help with discovery but when I offer to start on one, he says he needs to do it. (Since he might have to present as evidence) When I give him deadlines and ask for the docs he says he’ll get to it. It’s a small 1 man firm, and I’m the first assistant besides his wife. Any advice?

I'm a new joinee in MSFT.

People in my team they don't come with me for breaks. (They blame the timings are different since they sit in crits but i don't think so because they have their own group of friends to go with)

Secondly, when my team members see me in cafeteria we expect they'll sit with us but people here are being rude they directly go and sit with their friends they don't call you to join. ( atleast they could have said they are accompanied)

People behave unpleasant

My manager continues to ask me to help other teams and do work on other billable projects. I’m sick of it .. and I’m going to explicitly say that no I can’t do it because my hours are taken by the existing project we are doing. Is this appropriate?

I could use some advice on this situation. I’ve been working for a small family owned business in Toronto Canada for about 4months. I just found out a new colleague was brought on at 20% higher salary than my current salary. (Have been w/ firm 1.5 years) She doesn’t have a 4-year degree (working on it). Have you ever been told off by an older attorney of color? We have one Black partner at our firm and in conversation with him this morning he told me I should work on sounding and looking "more professional" and not let my "tone" or "bad attitude" get in the way.
