My CEO just publicly praised a male colleague for a strategy I pitched in a leadership meeting three weeks ago. When I gently reminded him that I’d introduced it first, he laughed and said, “Oh right you soft-launched it.” I smiled, but inside I was fuming. It wasn’t a soft launch, it was ignored until a man repeated it. How do you handle these casual moments of erasure without sounding petty or defensive?

Sounds like you did a good job of reminding him you did the work. Sadly, that's about all you can do without making a stink. And once you take it further, you can get labeled a problem, which from my experience can be both freeing and career damaging. Don't stay quiet, but be measured.

OP - I am so sorry to hear that. I have been in similar situations recently where one particular collegue keeps stealing my ideas and strategies. Unfortunately , this person has been put directly on my chain of command recently but don’t have any leadership integrity. They have actively worked to block my access / visibility to anyone above them. I can only hope karma gets to them.
