My company is making more of a shift to e-commerce and I'm struggling with developing operations that meet the customers' shipping needs. What are the best approaches to shifting seamlessly?

Some very basic questions..

1. Is it drop shipping that you are going to do for your customers or will you be shipping to their DCs?

2. Freight terms. Prepaid, Collect or Prepaid and Add?

3. What are OTIF requirements from the customer?

4. Do you have transportation capacity to handle the customer shipping volume?

5. What is on the customer routing guide ? Do they accept shipments based on some date or is it one or twice a week ?

6. Do they work with certain modes only or certain carriers ?

7.Are they expecting ASN/856s?

This is very, very helpful, SP1. I'm glad I found your comment. Thanks for this!

Provide a streamlined procedure for handling order packing and delivery. This procedure can be sped up and made more accurate by automating it. To monitor performance and improve operations, use analytics. This will enable you to spot opportunities for development and provide clients with better service.

Create a customer service plan to handle any problems that may occur. Be certain that your crew is knowledgeable and equipped to respond to consumer inquiries quickly. Keep an eye on how the e-commerce landscape is changing and keep up with the latest trends and technologies. By doing this, you can make sure that you continue to be competitive and satisfy client needs.

Determine the most important client requirements first. In addition to any unique packaging or handling requirements, this can also contain expectations for delivery time and cost. Look into the shipping options that are the most affordable. Look at 3PLs (third-party logistics providers), which can manage several carriers in one location, as well as carriers like FedEx, UPS, DHL, and USPS.

First of all, you need to have a strategic plan. Also, build the right footprint. I hope this helps.

Do not forget to build a social media presence. Translate your in-store experience to online. And of course, leverage your existing customers.

Hi there. I think you need to focus on select inventory. You should also start with what's manageable. Do not forget to choose the tools that can scale.

What's the target date for the transition? You need a lot of time for this.

I have a question about pricing. Some context to my upcoming question: My brother and I are starting a personal training business. I have six years military experience and he is still in the military. Collectively we have passed the hardest schools in the military and both love fitness and have experience building programs and are both certified personal trainers. I don’t know weather we should charge on the higher spectrum because of our experience or lower because of our business infancy.
