My first layoff and extremely mixed feelings. 6 months in (internal product), hated my manager and the new skip level manager, loved the company culture. Was feeling lost all this time, but was feeling confident and taking charge since last 2-3 weeks. Feeling anxious about the job struggle ahead in this economy and the financial setbacks esp. Since Atlassian paid quite well. Any advice for me?
I would take some time for yourself before going into the job search. I would make sure you have your savings in order and financials and then start searching. There are jobs available just have to be persistent. Best of luck <3

Don’t take this personally/be harsh on yourself. Tough to do I know. Nearly everyone goes through a layoff at some point.
When I went through a layoff (startup didn’t get funding), I was on a trip so I just took those extra days to try to destress, my former coworkers and I wrote glowing linkedin recommendations for each other. While I didn’t have a chance to meet up with them, highly recommend planning that if you can. And after a a week or two, jumped straight into job searching. Also take advantage of free time for fitness and FUN! Job searching is tiring and demotivating so think of yourself!
Totally understand. I have just been furloughed and am very disappointed. I've always been highly regarded and appreciated by my managers/teams. I find it frustrating that I can't project that to potential employers. Since I just found a job last year my advices is divvy your time between networking, applying to jobs online, and looking directly at company job boards that you are interested in. I keep hearing "don't bother applying to job postings", but I disagree as at least 1/4 of my interviews were directly from applying to postings. Also the busier you are and apply on LinkedIn, you will be found more often on LinkedIn. All the Best.

To clarify, it was less of me taking that much time to ramp up but my manager holding me back from in flight projects to "focus" on an upcoming implementation that only took off in January. I could have made more noise which I did but my manager would just indirectly tell me I have FOMO.
