My biggest issue with Austin is - the pay has not caught up with the cost of living there, so nobody can afford to live IN Austin anymore. Everyone’s out in the burbs.
Will confirm all things said about Austin and shops are true. Adding that there's a sort of network for letting Texans "come home" first and a lot of times they get the priority for hiring at higher levels. Also Austin lacks in diversity which makes me sad here. Not as open minded as I was sold to believe.
For Houston, I'll also add that the food scene in Houston is just as good if not better if you're into international foods. I'm not a native Texan and had been told Houston is the worst but it was actually pretty fucking cool when I visited.
Austin is majorly over hyped - it’s a decent place to live with costs that are sadly starting to approach real cities but without the museums, sport teams, infrastructure etc to warrant it. Real talk.

Austin is as expensive as LA but without the beach and a lot less culture. Somewhat more walkable if you want to pay a premium. Food is great, too.
Visit now while it’s so miserably hot and remember it’s like this 9 months a year. Austin is the best, but since all Texans know that, it drives up costs. Agree Houston is gross. Dallas is best ad market, but it’s a huge, generic, mostly segregated city, and it takes forever to get anywhere. Tell us again, why Texas? (Btw, I’m a Texan)
@CD1 omfg yes I’ve been saying this. Austin is so overhyped. No museums, no diversity, no sports teams, no history. “Keep Austin Weird” ......ok.
I moved to Dallas about a year ago. Best decision ever! I miss some of the food in LA...but that’s about it.
^agreed Austin is expensive (for no reason) and the weather in Houston is terrible.

My husband was a marine so we have a tons of friends that live out there and frankly, LA is too expensive for the things we want as we start to want to have a family: house, boat, land - all of those things seem too far fetched to have where we are. And if we did, we could afford 4x better somewhere else. We’ve only heard good things about Texas (besides the heat lol) and everyone says we would love the music, lifestyle, American values and amazing food! All things we love. Definitely planning to visit in Austin in August! Well eventually make our way around to feel everything out :) thanks for your thoughts!

Houston is great - amazing cost of living and food! Far cheaper than Austin.
@publicis 1 - The Company is small but growing like crazy, Love is ok but there’s a crazy woman who leads their digital, MMI is small but growing, Savage is a decent digital shop, Unleaded is a good energy shop, JWT handles Shell, etc

Love Dallas, San Antonio and Austin. Austin is getting kind of expensive and a lot of transplants are adding drama according to friends. Dallas is growing a ton. Houston’s best days are behind it so I’d stay away. Maybe they’ll get their act together
