Hi OP!
Excited to hear that you’re interested in interviewing with us - we’d love to have you in! As you’re making your decision about whether to apply (you should!), thought I’d hop in here and give you some straight-from-the-source info:
We’re a global independent network of agencies with offices in Bogotá, Colombia; Santiago, Chile; LA; and of course NYC. Globally we have more than 100 employees. Numbers-wise, slightly more than half of our folks are in South America, where we handle clients like HBO, Under Armour, Apple, Avianca, Uber and more. It’s been a great year in Bogotá - we are finalists for Agency of the Year there. Super proud of that team.
Our LA office is our entertainment office, and focuses primarily on TV development and branded content. It’s headed up by Ethan Goldman - a killer TV Exec with a strong record.
Here in NYC, we’re about 25 strong and are on track to double in size by mid 2019. In addition to our Social AOR win for BMW, we’re Social AOR for two Boston Beer Company brands: Samuel Adams and Truly Spiked & Sparkling. Over the last year we’ve done consistent work with brands like OneMain Financial, Cargill, ESPN, NBCUni, and Amazon Fashion to name a few.
Finally, it bears mentioning that we work hard to maintain and also take pride in our strong culture. Our team is still relatively small (we like it that way) but extremely talented, hard working and committed. The agency really does give every employee a seat at the table. We’re young, but we like that - we don’t feel beholden to the old ways. Also, I can assure you, all of our employees are quite real and not stock photos!
If you’d like to chat more or have any more questions about applying, I’d be happy to talk in more detail. Shoot me an email @ jen@anchorww.com .
And to any other folks reading this, we’re also hiring for accounts, strategy, and CM positions. We’d love to hear from you! You can see a full list of openings and apply via our website (anchorww.com).
Thanks and have a lovely new year!
Interviewed there looong ago, so info is probably out of date.
First, these are the same guys that started Rooster which Havas eventually bought and took over. They've played this game before.
Second, it's was a very small team of about 5 people, mostly writers. They had an edit suite where some freelancers were at work and a startup company they're invested in working in the back. Part of their business model is start up investment kinda like Bullish.
They're financed by an Icelandic billionaire. Most work on their website is from past agencies where the founders worked and all those faces in the grid are just stock photos. Only true client at the time was a telecom in Jamaica which I was told requires frequent travel. The other "office" is just an apartment where one of the founders lives abroad.
The vibe was cool. They felt honest and kind and I believe they were really looking to grow, it just wasn't for me and i think they felt I wasnt for them.
Wish them and you the best!
And Jen is wonderful
YES SHE IS! Much love to Jen and the whole
Anchor team
Do you know details about what you’ll be working on? I worked on a social AOR for a competitor so this info is definitely not direct, it didn’t look like Anchor was investing much in their social besides some micro-influencer campaigns and contests. The whole tech accessories segment typically doesn’t have good margins / revenue generating in general although Anchor does have decent market share. I would ask a lot of questions in your interview process.
@AS1 thank you! I saw that they recently won social AOR for BMW so I assume that I would be working on that and some new business. If I do get the position it would be a big leap of faith on my part.
Thanks Jen and all! All this information is really helpful. Can’t wait to see what the new year brings!
I too interviewed with them along ago (last year) . Super small team, super chill vibe and it seemed like they had solid team members. Be prepared to wear a number of diff hats because its such a small operation. Really young team members and agency, exciting place if u want to grow. Unfortunately wasnt right for me at the time but i can see the appeal
Where do I see their work? It’s not on the site. I’m always suspicious of agencies that don’t feature their work
