My last job micromanaged every spreadsheet, email, and meeting. My current role swung the other way with almost zero direction, no priorities, and a constant “just figure it out.” Somehow, both environments are exhausting in completely different ways. I want autonomy, not abandonment, and structure without suffocation. How do you find (or create) the right balance between guidance and independence?

You need the right leadership to be in the best of both worlds. Sometimes it takes the initiative to make that structure, but without support, it’ll only go so far.

This is how my current role is. My boss micromanages every thing I do and doesn't seem to have enough of her own work to do because she has time allllll day to micromanage. As a manager you have to be willing to let go of some of the control and trust that your people can do their jobs.

Made it to the on-site round for a Sales S&O interview. However, both of the interviewers are Managing Directors of Sales. I thought they would be other S&O managers. How would this affect interview questions (e.g would GCA case studies be sales focused?) how can I best prepare for this given a lack of a sales background.

I'm in finance/tech FPA, looking to go back to the defense industry for a 25% increase in TC. But wanted to see if I should leverage the new salary with current company to see if they'll match.

Background: got a promotion at current company that didn't come with sufficient increase . After stating my case I was told it would be evaluated next October, which is what prompted the initial job search.

Current TC 103K [88/15], offer 125k base [+discretionary bonus].

Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?

Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?

My current company and many others I know about do not offer the mobility to do so until much later, which is not what I want. Thank you.
