Don’t ever let anyone shame you for getting sleep. American corporate culture has reprogrammed us into thinking you don’t need it, any less than 7-8 hours a night really impacts your creativity and productivity. Leaders who lack sleep aren’t taking care of themselves. People wouldn’t skip meals day after day, it’s the same / worse
Agreed, just saying it wouldn’t be socially acceptable to skip meals consistently.
I had a manager like that who always wanted our team to get cheap fast food or sandwiches even though we were expensing against an enormous client with a huge budget. Guy would have us work past midnight and never wanted to get healthy food lol. Absolutely the worst
There's a fascinating book by Matthew Walker titled Why we Sleep. It was a revelation to read it because I was amongst those who took genuine pride in going to sleep at 12 am and waking up promptly by 4 or 5 am. Only later I realized the baseline resetting our CNS does so that this dangerous sleep cycle of 3-4hrs gets normalized and we almost trick ourselves into believing that our body needs only this much (some indeed are genetic outliers who truly cannot sleep at night but that's <1%)
I sleep 7 hours every night & will not sacrifice it lol
So many senior folks looking like they are falling apart which I think is related to the above and poor diet
How can you be a CEO if you have a manager?
