Nagging clients... Is this done yet? Is this done yet? Multiple weeks before the deadline when I have other competing superseding deadlines for other clients.

How do you tell an otherwise good client that their task is not your top priority? The reality is I know the deadline better than they do, and in the situations I am talking about the deadline is usually quite far out.

I have started taking to completely ignoring the question when I get a text, but curious other ideas.

I would not give them my cell, and would tell them they would get an update by x reasonable date

That's what the paralegal is for use him/her. They can give the updates, tell the client when the court date is, listen to the nagging client for you, explaining to the client that you are very busy with other clients also, and remind the client that they are being billed every time they call the office with the same question in a very polite and professional manner of course. I worked for a blessed attorney and that is the way we handled it.

I'm entering my final year of law school but am going part time since I work full time as a paralegal. I have been a paralegal for more 10+ years and I want to open my own firm after I pass the bar.

I've worked at a lot of different size firms including a startup with a few attorneys and I was able to help with a lot of the ground work with getting the practice management system in place and still do some of that now at my current firm. Has anyone done this right out of law school? Any advice?
