It's a no win situation for our side of the table.
You know that some will automatically look to the low bids just to keep costs down. A rare few will look at the high bidders to see if there's a unicorn hiding there, but if it's a situation where the position was left open was to make 2 quarters of cost center fluffing for management bonuses, say hi to Larry the intern training into the opportunity.

Definitely a no win situation! Totally agree
I like to research the job and see what a salary that’s the going rate and see if I could live on that or if I would be willing to negotiate that if you can put words instead of numbers, I usually say negotiable

That’s a good idea! I do the same as well
Do your best to figure it out and put that range in. I hate that it is a requirement, but there’s only so much I can do to know what they are looking for.
It’s a broken system on our side. Just have to navigate as best we can until it improves.
Do your research and hope it's accurate. Find the average pay range for the position in your area, then see if there are company specific reviews discussing salary that you can use to further dial in. There's always some guesswork involved, and that's just the way it is.

Unfortunately you’re right! Terrible that it has to be this way but it is what it is

I usually research salary ranges beforehand. If I’m unsure, I might enter a range based on industry standards. This way, I avoid being filtered out.

What sites do you use to research salary ranges?
Look, I see all your posts, and I need to be honest with you. You either see the glass as half empty all the time or you are just looking for something to complain about. You either need to create a business of your own or learn how to advocate for yourself, leaving room to negotiate some of your terms, which allows you to do your job efficiently and effectively. Otherwise, you are in the wrong field of work, or you may need to work on your emotional intelligence. This may be a sign for you to start your own business. Either way, I wish you good intentions on your journey to employment. Also, remember so many people are out of work right now or getting paid way less than they are worth. I have talked with 10 people this week who are out of work because they have been let go from a job they worked at for years, and can't get an interview or get a job offer with a livable wage. You are blessed, Trust!
Yes…..one of many weeding out tactics.
