Document everything! Kill them with kindness and always look like you are raising the bar. Have someone like your manager in your corner to support you. If you are about to go perm I’d wait until that happens first. Look out for #1
Anthony has the perfect reply. Office politics stuff sucks, but it’s worth getting used to. I’ve had some horrible nepotists at my helm, and best you can do is keep documentation. Use email as much as possible and send an agenda for calls and summaries of what you discussed. Read receipts help too. Have proof of your end of the effort. Archive everything.
Also, if you have to explain something 2 times, tell them to write it down the third time so that they remember.
Let your manager deal with the flak - this isn’t someone you want to f**k with
Thank you everyone who responded I appreciate the advice came to my manager about this today and it couldn’t of gone better
Most of the stuff I give them they do very subpar work. For example last week it would take them 30m-1hr to finish this deliverable for a client, they did half the work I asked to do and I gave them a template and data just had to copy and paste info.
I’ve trained them on everything and everything I do it’s always bad, I’m supposed to get more involved on my team and need to transition my responsibilities with them and I don’t want to because of the experience I have with them.
Agreed, you stated your manager knows. Let them handle it. Focus on your job, and attempt to become direct. If your not direct by Oct. 2024, make sure your looking for a higher paying roll. Too many companies continually promise contractors a direct role and never deliver. Even when it is budgeted. The Intern could be your boss next year?
