What's the salary range for a director at the Gilead Sciences foundation? There is a position perfect for me, but I don't want to throw my hat in the ring if starting salary isn't $180-190k. Also, any thoughts on the stability of their philanthropic commitment? There's talk of a recession; I don't want to go private to be cute a few months later.

Go into that conversation with facts.
What the market pays for the scope of responsibility you have, what was discussed... what you expect.
Put it all on the table. You want a decision date so you can make decisions for yourself.
Someone will pay you your worth. It may just not be the company you're at now.
You are the CEO of your career. Nobody cares about your career more than you. Go to your direct manager and remind them of the conversation and what was promised. Then give them an overview of your current responsibilities compared to what they were when you took on the additional responsibilities. Don’t go in with a negative attitude. Just ask for what you were promised. If they say I’ll look into it, ask for a timeline and hold them to it. If they say it’s not going to happen then you will have to decide if you are willing to leave or let them take advantage of them.
I agree with others, use facts, show what you do that is not typically your role responsibility and the value that you bring.
You can also say that having that title will help to be considered at the same level as other directors and make your role clearer to everybody.
You can also say that you are not supposed to make certain decision under your role and that having the proper role would make it better for everyone b cause you officially own these responsibilities.
You can also ask if there is any guidelines of skills to have or exam to pass to be able to officially have this role, what you are missing and work with your manager to aim the promotion on the next X months. Also ask if promotion include pay increase because it happened to me that I was put forward a promotion but it was juste a title promotion. So ask about that too 😉
what is double? you went from one to two? four to eight?
