10 months. When I just recovered mentally from busy season and realized it was starting all over again
I don’t think many of us are necessarily bitter. You’re just taking the dark humor too literally. Welcome to the machine that is public accounting. Don’t forget to complete your timesheet!
It’s generally between two and four years
Find a job that pays well and where you are appreciated. I detested my last year at PwC. Found a job at a local firm. Now make as much as most of the managers, have literally no stress, and leave work at 5pm every day
The hours are miserable. I generally enjoy my job outside of that
As soon as they realized that being an adult means that you have to have a job. Or maybe as soon as their parents started telling them that they need to move out of their house now that they have a job.
Taking pride in your work and trying to deliver the best doesn’t mean I’m blind to the bad parts or not affected by them. After working crazy hours, losing weekings and still getting bad feedbacks and not being financially compensated, you start getting tired in general. I started getting bitter by my second fiscal year, now I just adopted a “don’t like me, fire me” philosophy and don’t bother about people anymore.
How do you keep yourself from getting bitter and actually taking pride in your work?
Agree with BT1. Hours are asinine. However, I learn a ton about a lot of industries, get to travel, and feel challenged a lot, which keeps it interesting. Pros usually outweighs the cons
That said, working 60 hours a week outside BS is for the birds

Withum 1--spend a week at PWC NYM and you'll see a lot of them are bitter. I'm not opposed to hard work, but doing something you hate for so long just to leverage a better offer, and maybe a better work enviorenment sounds ridiculous.
BT 1--can you elaborate?
2 years on the dot
