Hey guys. I have been applying to Amex for the past 1 year. Tried applying on the portal, through referrals and even hr consultants reached me regarding the roles since I have a relevant profile. But not once have I been shortlisted or called for an interview. What could be the problem?
PS: I have gotten calls from every other company for the same profile but not amex. Can't be a problem with the profile. Seems something dicey which I'm not aware of.American Express

Send it over, I’ll review it.
I’ve had the same happen. Usually I’ll package up final deck/idea pages with an email thanking them and yada yada yada
I don’t always expect a response but that’s showbiz, baby
It happens, and it sucks. These people shouldn’t be in our industry but are. Just remember you’re getting paid to think up ideas… whether they use them (or read them) or not, that’s an amazing position to be in. One that workers in other industries would kill for.
The last part. Something we love to forget.
You’ve done your job well. They’re the one bad at theirs. You should be proud.
It’s not right but I bet everyone is so over stretched that they don’t even think about the human part. They’re just rushing to the presentation (particularly showing everyone and their junior AE before then).
There’s often an attitude of “that’s what the money is for.” Not ideal but I can see how it happens.
Not an excuse. Karma is an unforgiving mistress.
Yeah it happens sometimes you just pitch a deck over the fence and that’s it! It would be nice to at least get a “thanks for the ideas!” Doesn’t always happen though. Watch in a few months you’ll see something close to what you sent them out in the wild and then know they used it lol
I’d be down to take a look too. Lately I’ve been feeling a bit like this and I want to make sure it’s not in my head
What’s the agency?
It’s happened at three agencies. All big holding cos.
Sorry to hear. Would love to review the deck. I’m sure it’s great. If you’re a freelancer that’s the way people do things. As long as the paycheck doesn’t bounce and you leave on a good note; it’s all good.
Doesn’t the request in itself tell you all you need to know? They don’t know what they want until they see it, usually from their own hands. Tale as old as time. Bill every second.
Enthusiast
OP you think they just wanted “one for the road,” like, let’s squeeze a few more ideas from them just in case we need them? So gross they did not respond. So sorry.
I’m probably missing something but if it’s the final day of your contract why would you expect them to give feedback if you won’t be there to address it? Is it possible they might look at it later?
When you’re a freelance, the best thank you is an invoice paid on time and another gig. You’re not gonna win awards, unless you’re working under your own paper.
Curious about what your day rate is. If it’s below a certain threshold, it might be easier to justify ignoring your contributions.
I’m a staffer and this happens to us too—seems to be happening more often, too. Another round of Bluesky ideas that never go anywhere.
