I admire a manager who asks me what my goals are and helps funnel opportunities my way that can help me achieve them.
Also, realize that it’s not your team’s job to adapt to your management style. It’s your job to meet them where they are.
Always give them the benefit of the doubt, and have their backs/go to war for them when needed.
If you don’t have their respect after that, they’re idiots.
Always! I agree! 💜✨
Step 1. Give me a raise
“Keep pushing."
Come on 🤣
Give actionable feedback. Don’t cherry pick the best assignments. Take bullets for your teams. Don’t give them ideas; lead them to them. Be kind. Periodically check in with them, just because. Make decisions. Don’t make them waste time on ideas you know will never get there. Give fulsome praise whenever you can. Slap wrists as infrequently as possible

We moved to a new neighborhood. I just hope everyone likes me.
Are you looking for validation or asking a question.
Sorry, we actually don’t validate
Listen to none of the above.
And make sure they know you’re rooting for their success
If you don’t already have one, form a solid relationship with an EP who you can have little chats with. Helps arm yourself with information (and an ally) for when you have your own talks with your creative teams.
Can you explain a little bit more about the latter part? I’m curious.
Don’t refer to your own work as examples, or do it sparingly. It’s slimy and we’ve probably already seen your portfolio.
Same as OP. Trying to find the balance between being admired and appreciated. My book is good, trying to evolve an existing department to produce better work, but requires a lot of education/ teaching
You said it!!
