I got a call from the Google recruiter about my L7 em interview Google She said I did overwhelmingly good on all interviews except one had mixed feedback on a system design. No surprise because it was not a good interview. The recruiter said i had a choice to go to hiring committee, give referrals they could call about my system design or take another system design interview. I’m not confident about the system design because of the bad experience I had with the previous interviewer. What should I do?

Also, remember that Amazon lifted the base pay cap from $180k to $350k recently, so go by the more recent data points and push for a higher base.
Put it on them. Ask them the budget for the role?
I thought they have to answer if you ask? Is that just in some states?
I would start near the top of the range, your equity grant will be based on that TC and has a very strong probability of improving price by the time shares vest. The reason for large range at Amazon is that external (or top tier) typically cluster at higher end of band while internal promos cluster near middle. Onboarding grant typically the largest you’ll ever get.
Almost 10yrs at big A from L6 to L8, go for it and congrats. Don’t worry the recruiter will back you down if you overreach 😉
Thank you for the detailed information. So exciting !!
One more thing. If you’re inclined they want you. If it’s in the range they’ll pay…
Give her a range… with the salary you want as the minimum
Swing for the fences
Does anyone know the next steps after the loop?
The recruiter mentioned that she will be setting some meetings with different teams hiring managers where they will be pitching the teams.
Is this true? Anyone has had experience in this?
Hey OP any update?
Probably too late at this point, since this post is 4 days old. But my general advice is to punt the question back to them. Say that you want to get paid fairly for the level and scope of impact you are making. That will usually lead them to share the comp range. Yeah, like you should 100% negotiate for 300+
Thanks for the information. What breakdown would you recommend for L6?
What level are you at?
2.5x your current TC. Ask for it.
If they've specified what level this role is at i'd always ask 'What is the salary banding for this tier?' but worth baring in mind they'll normally go a bit above it for the right external candidate to stay competitive.
How does Amazon decide what level to place an employee i.e., L4, L5, L6, etc? Are you informed what level they are hiring for during the interview process?
