I’m a cyber security professional with a security clearance looking to get into cloud security. I’m trying to figure out if I should go for AWS or Microsoft Azure. Which would be the best route to take? Which route is more beneficial?

Whichever one you can pass the interview for. If you can pass both then it depends on tc/location preference/wlb preference etc.

Sorry, hijacking the question - Interested in firmware security at all?

like

I haven’t looked into firmware security but sound interesting

I feel like I might appear bias if I answer this question. It really depends on where you want to go.

like

not always, my last gov job used azure

like

Also biased but you can do amazing work at MSFT.

I believe Microsoft has a better work life balance and culture than AWS.

Both will pay well....but why now work at a place where turnover is relatively lower and you can stay for a few years.

AWS pays well but you make more money by staying somewhere for a long time.

like

I guess it depends on where you want to work, why not both?

Is the question about what platform to learn or where to try to get a job? The answer is the same for either question IMO, but I of course can’t be unbiased. The intent of your question may impact answers from others though.

I think the best way to make a decision is to do that based on the market share. They work very similarly as well. As I know AWS is used in most of the companies. So I would recommend to start with AWS, and some time later learning Azure will not be hard.

I made my decision the same way when I was diciding with which to start learning cloud computing (for DevOps)

There is a third option!

I currently work in Healthcare as a respiratory therapist for 10 years. I have been at my job, currently, for a little over 5 years. Alongside my bachelors degree I also have a masters degree in healthcare administration. Although, I am happy with my current position as a respiratory therapist, there seems to be not a lot career growth with where the department I currently work in within my healthcare system. I am wondering what doors/opportunities I have if I were to utilize my masters degree?

The contrarian in me makes me think this is a decent indication that housing market will stagnate (or increase minimally) for a few years.

I often hear of people that got PIPed at Amazon. Frome what I find online, it seems to be a horrible state to be in.So, out of curiosity, how common is it for people, at Amazon, to end up in such a situation? Is is just based on your performance or do any other factors contribute to it as well? If it just depends on the performance, how badly does one need to fu*k up (according to the manager) to end up getting PIPed
