Its much much easier to become a partner in a big firm than start your own successful business.
No I’m not partner but I make around 350k in total comp and another 30k in 401k match and will make partner in the next 1-2 years. Worked fine for me.
Define rich. I spent 7 years in big4; now in industry make $350k a year and work 9-5 in my mid 30s. Have potential for more.
Wife adds another $250-300k.
We seem to be piling up assets just fine
Pretty much everything in your post is wrong. And why did you feel the need to post again right after your previous one
EY1 has fishbowl notifications on me specifically turned on 😘
I got rich working 9-5 - you must have been doing it wrong
Sure sure…
what're you selling bro, this is your second post about this
Selling that 9-5 is not the way
If you’re unemployed, just say that
Tax Senior is that you?
Someone’s been watching finance bro YouTube channels again.
Tell me more about your “infinite banking” life insurance scheme 🙄
Full career B4 partners should retire with a net worth between $15m to $20m (COL has an impact).

What are you spending your first million on, OP?
My 9-5 worked out. 5 years PA and now make 220k in industry. Saved in my 20's and now have three kids and a happy wife. I think OP has a skill/attitude issue based on the comments.

I only work for myself in my 100% owned personal business. Maybe you will always work for someone but that’s not everyone 😬
There are also sheep spending more money that they should be. Don't disagree that salaries haven't increased like I would hope. But I also currently have no money concerns no debt. And I live on half the money that comes in each month. The rest is stacked up. I could like in a much nicer place, but I want to keep saving so I like in a nice basement apartment and drive a car from 2011 that everyone thinks is newer than that.
I could quit my job right now and be fine for a while. Salves couldn't quit their job. Not similar at all.
If your in a bad situation you can change it. It will take effort to figure out how and then implement. You can do this!
Should also say that I firmly believe you make more money by being the business owner.

What percentage of startup businesses are successful?
$350K and still crying online? Bro, you didn’t “escape” the 9-5—you just got a high-paying one. Still reporting to clients, investors, and the market—just with a nicer paycheck.
Real money doesn’t argue on the internet. If you were actually thriving, you wouldn’t need to flex on strangers for validation. $350K is great—but it’s not an empire. Call us when you own the game, not just play in it.
Your absolutely right. Very much a struggle out there for professionals over 50. I'm applying for roles as a CPA with 30yrs experience. Wages are the same as when I was applying 15yrs ago. Its crazy. Companies are only concerned with shareholders and not the staff making them money to provide return on investment. Something has to give. Of course, in some cases AI will make it difficult for some professionals.
I wouldn't say no one.... but you're 100% correct
I have to say it’s really just out of the luck either you climb the corporate ladder or become a successful business owner. You need a little luck and grab the chance to be successful. I have met and worked with a lot of smart people. Not all of them ended up to be successful. Although some of them are enjoying their life being their own bosses. Working more hours than big 4 and make the same amount of money if they would promoted to be SM and struggling to grow… I also heard some SM got let go because they are too good at what they are doing and making their supervisor upset…
