Cholesterol is not that important, I wouldn’t worry unless it’s crazy high. Also I would get a new doctor because yours clearly is uneducated. FYI total cholesterol is inversely associated with all-cause mortality
What are your numbers broken out? High HDL and low triglycerides are indicative of a well functioning metabolism. LDL is not a useful indicator for CVD and mortality.
Also what about your A1c, fasting glucose, fasting insulin, and 2-hour postprandial glucose and insulin (though probably not tested).
Test again in 3 months. A lot of people see an increase in cholesterol the first few months, but after 6 months it tends to normalize
Weight loss floods the zone with LDL, but I ran high before LCHF but my profile is tons better. But I take a little niacin and a good bit of K2 and astraxathin.
Read some of the work on cholesterol from Dr Peter Attia, cholesterol levels are NOT good indicators of heart health. Have your doctors checks for triglyceride levels? That’s what they should be concerned with. Also, only ~4% of dietary cholesterol translates to cholesterol in the blood stream. What you’re eating is having very little if any influence on your counts from blood work
Look into the research done by dr dom d'agostino and dr stephen phinney, they’ve looked at long term. I’ve been keto for 3 years and have no desire to quit, I think if it works for your system (which you have to determine) there’s no reason to stop after a few months
Did you fast for 16-18 hours?
I eat healthy fats, workout 6 days/wk (combo of strength, cycling, running) and am only 32!! This is so frustrating. Keto has helped so much in other areas, especially hormone regulation, but this is concerning. Tips? Anyone else have this happen?
Keto is meant to be a short term diet/ metabolic reset. I left consulting and study nutrition full time. It is detrimentally unhealthy to do Keto long term
