Going to be bored over holiday season and was thinking about starting up the Python Institute Certifications (probably the whole roadmap). I would say I’m at an intermediate level currently. Anyone with the certs have thoughts on worthiness / best way to study / how it helped them in their career or job search? Thanks in advance 😄

If you do billable work on a given PTO/vacation day, do you still count that day as vacation? Or do you get that vacation day "back"? Or do you only get the part that you billed "back"? (Or some other option.)

Do you work a lot of overtime during flu season/the holiday season? My manager says with travelers and people needing shots + antibiotics we'll get swamped for like the next 3 months. Do I just work somewhere understaffed or is there a "busy season?"

Starting a new job next week (unlimited PTO), and just had some plans for the summer get finalized (family vacation and two weddings). It’s about 2 weeks in total - one extending July 4 week, an extended weekend in late Aug, and a week in October. Do I email my manager about all this now, or wait until next week once I’ve started?? The plans just got finalized today, and I accepted the offer a month ago.

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me.
