I teach a 7th/8th grade self-contained classroom and I'm looking for recommendations on morning activities, transitions, and non-core subject matter.

I have a high level of ADD/ADHD students, so I was contemplating a Morning Meditation and/or Movement to help them focus more. I also would like to work on incorporating transition periods that will allow them to more easily convert to a six period schedule in high school.

I'm transitioning from teaching 8th grade mathematics at a public school to teaching a 7/8 self-contained classroom at a charter school.

We talk about keeping rigor in our classes, however I’m finding my HS students need straight forward instructions. Most students are struggling to meet their Maslow’s needs that to use higher Blooms seems like a stretch. Does anyone teach ceramics? I'm looking to buy new wheels with the last of my budget ($2500) but I need 4-5 of them. I want to buy Brent wheels b/c they're the best but need something more economical.

I like using Artsonia to catalog/preserve student work digitally. But I end up spending too much time walking students through how to upload or taking the pictures myself. Does anyone out there have a really great set up or recommendations? Or other digital platforms they really enjoy using?
