That's hilarious, talk about a bold strategy. Even if he was successful, how could the $40 or whatever a discman costs be worth the effort and risk? Wild. My favorite was a customer trying to return a couple shirts she bought with price tags from more expensive shirts that she'd also purchased. Apparently Amazon sells a tool that allows you to replace tags and make it look like they're originals. Which might have worked if the logo on the shirt had matched the brand name on the tag..
$40? It was more like $20. But if they were smart, they wouldn't have to steal, or at least not so blatently.
It was bad enough that we had (were supposed to have, anyway) two in stock. But he sold outdated tech that NO ONE was buying, and tried to return it.
I explained that we were missing one off the shelf, and had not sold one of these in YEARS, much less than since we had gotten this on (with a received date) in.
He suggested that he might have bought it at another store in our chain.
I agreed that that was a good counter, except that the store tag told me it was from THIS store.
Needless to say, he left without his refund AND without his product ;)
Anyone else have a good shoplifter denied story?
