The cost of living is rising. It’s normal for CMA’s to make 23-24/hr. That also comes out to around 46-47k a year. That’s not much to live off of.
Florida is like $16 an hour LOL
I make 16.28 as a certified phlebotomist. This is my first phlebotomy position but I feel like all your experience should warrant significantly higher pay.
I live in southern Indiana and I make 19.81 hourly. I had to negotiate that salary with 5 years experience! I’m working in behavioral health and addictions. I complete the medical portion of the admissions and prepare the patient for the physician, complete Covid tests, tb skin test, administer antipsychotic injections. My last job that I left in March of this year was only paying me $18 an hour. I worked in dermatology assisting in out patient surgery but the physician was a nightmare to work for. I don’t know of any place in my area that’s paying more than $20 an hour but again, I do live in southern Indiana.
I live in Oregon and I also have 10 years of experience family practice, I don’t do phlebotomy. I left my last job since I only was getting paid 22hr. New job is paying me 26hr. normal range is now is 20-28.
I make 19.90 hourly in Utah not certified. 5 months into the job. I did work for the company before as a PCT for a year so I didn’t start on the very bottom of the pay scale.
I have 3 years experience, make $27/hr in Washington state - HCOL area. I had to negotiate pay. I have extensive experience as a float, do phlebotomy, and have my associates degree. It may be why I was able to negotiate higher pay. Originally, they offered $26, which I think is market average for MA's of 3yrs experience in my state. I would say you are definitely underpaid for 10yrs of experience, but then again don't know your COL situation.
