Hi All!
I am currently a Senior Software Engineer(Backend) with 4 YOE. My current CTC is 21LPA (All Fixed) with additional Yearly bonus. I got a call from Google (Pune/Bangalore/Remote) for Software Engineer - Backend. I have the following doubts but any insights are welcome -
1. Does the lower designation offered make any difference?
2. Kinda ambiguous, but what kind of hike or ballpark pay can I expect?
3. Any similar interviews experiences or focus areas I should prepare for?
What does Staff Software Engineer mean! Is it equavalent to a developer (SDE) ?
Is it advisable for Data Engineers to join as Staff Software Engineer!
What would be the salary range for GCP professional certified employees with 5.5 YoE joining as Staff Software Engineer in India!

Especially with the current WFH situation and the ever-blurring line between “work” and “home,” having paid OT is amazing.
I’m also salary, and everything after 40 gets time and a half. It had never occurred to me before to ask in regards to a salaried role, but when they couldn’t budge on the initial offer, they suggested paid OT. It’s been an amazing thing to have this year!
I had this issue since my agency is teeny tiny and there isn’t much wiggle room - was able to get extra vacation days and a decent EOY bonus, and have them contribute to my 401k within my first month instead of waiting a full year
plus WFH days 3 days per week if I wanted since my commute was rough (before the pandemic lolol)
You can also ask about other benefits like training/education if that’s important to you.

It happens. Sometimes budgets are budgets. Sign-on bonus sometimes but lots of talent available right now. Don’t push too hard or you risk them rescinding the offer.
Couldn’t agree more. I’ve been giving myself space to process the offer, but def agree if i’m not 100% about it, it’s a no.
