Blowing it of proportion? With all these trees and a history of falling trees that kill people? The winds are supposed to be extreme. It's better to be safe than sorry…

Hmmmm maybe I should get my ass up and actually go get some more bottled water then…. Idk why I just figured it would be a lot of rain but that’s it.
Have had to study meteorology for a few things in the past. Best guess is this will get pretty gnarly but worst impact will be this afternoon/tonight. 40kt+ wind gusts are no joke …..my worry level is somewhere between a 5-7/10
They didn't close schools today, just govt offices...
Yes they did. A lot of counties and colleges closed and are either doing remote learning or a hard close.

Well so far everyone has canceled their interviews for today and I’ve received numerous emails that EEs will not be attending assignments. I would also prefer to be at home but here I am at my desk just fielding call outs 🎉
You can’t work from home?

I’m slightly worried about a tree falling on my house and possibly a power outage - guess will see how it looks when I get home from a trip tmo (if I get home)
The winds will be significant but 11Alive just said people were joking about the storm but are taking it more seriously after viewing footage from a bridge in Tampa. Who would have thought that an actual hurricane would produce significant damage to a coastal city?
By the time it gets to us it will have lost a lot of its punch. But this is a very dangerous storm. It's going to cause a lot of flooding in Georgia, and the wind damage could be considerable. Just be thankful you aren't near the coastline where it's going to hit, those places will be devastated.
