D1 actually gets a special shout-out in Marriott’s 10-K for single-handedly affecting their numbers
Marriott lifetime 1767 nights 😪
Top tip: Google status match :)
Hilton points are useless. I learned the hard way. I have 200k of them and can get like 2.5 nights at a super nice hilton. Would have had 200k marriott points which are worth more.
Go for lifetime Marriott
I generally stay at marriott, I'll make lifetime this summer. Once that happens I'll be a little more flexible with choosing the brand that i use. For me loyalty really isn't anything if you're not traveling often, but i appreciate the difference when I'm traveling weekly.
Damn D1. I am sad for you. That is 5 years almost of every day in a hotel. Guessing you have been doing this for 15+ years?
Lol omni?
@ Director 1. 18 years. Good guess.
D1. Send me some points. And yes go for Marriott lifetime OP
I hear ya D1. 1390 at Marriott and 240 at SPG. Plus Hilton’s and Hyatt’s
OP, if you stick with one chain once you get status you'll maximize the points you earn - one of the benefits of status is greater points earned per dollar.
SC1, that's not how points-earning works...with Hilton you earn more points than Marriott but they're worth less. So you'd have substantially less than 200k Marriott points had you stayed the same number of nights at Marriott properties
That said, I think SPG/Marriott is the better program as of right now - we'll see if that's still true once they announce the new categories for each hotel in the combined program :)
Bruh. If your considering deviating from Marriott, don’t go Hilton. Points system as others have pointed out, sucks. Go Hyatt. Really good points system and you can have a great time in most major cities. Been at this just a little over a year and swimming in points tbh. Used them to stay 10 nights for free and probably have enough to score another 10 at a lower tier, or 3 nights at a top tier one
D4 go both.
I'm at Hilton now. Switch to Marriot or SPG and now or after the programs combine? I'm assuming they'll match my status and carry points over?
How long is a piece of string?
