One of my male colleagues always takes credit for my ideas, and honestly, I'm getting tired of it. Is it worth confronting him directly or should I find a subtler way to get my voice heard?

I wouldn’t confront him, I’d stop sharing my ideas. It’s easier to control yourself than others. If you confront him, not only will you still not get credit, but he may characterize you as petty.

Until he learns to acknowledge your excellence, he won’t be exposed to it.

like

Or....you could throw out some really bad ideas. 😆

likefunny

Just say, “Oh remember that was my idea. I’m glad you liked it after all,” and keep it pushing.

like

Oh, this would be fun. Subtle, but not subtle. Or, say something like, "Oh yes, I remember when I mentioned that idea to you!"

like

Good luck with approaching him that way… remember he’s a man!

like

I’m a direct person, so I would confront him. I would say something like…In our meeting the other day you present my idea as yours. I don’t mind you using my idea, but at least give me credit. Leave it at that. Don’t share your ideas with this guy anymore.

like

After your colleague presents the "borrowed" idea, be prepared to elaborate with specifics. This reinforces your knowledge and ownership of the concept.

like

Nothing wrong with having a professional conversation with them about it. Just maintain a good communication standpoint and listen to them and what they have to say about it. Tell them you're happy to help them come with their own ideas if they'd like.

My guess is that he either won't recognize the reality of the situation or won't acknowledge the significance of what he is doing.

Ideally, someone else, like another colleague would point it out.

Let’s talk about wrongful termination. The other day I was fired in the middle of the day without any warning. My colleagues called me because they were confused on why the Talent Manager dismissed me from the chat. I didn’t know what they were referring to. So I called my PM to ask what was happening, and she said that she just got off the phone with the TM and said they were terminating my contract on the spot due to me speaking up about micromanaging. No explanation just kicked out. Advice?

Anyone have experience taking an RM role in a more corporate industry (i.e. consulting, tax, finance)?

I'm curious to see what else is out there and wondering if there are pros/cons (aside from the dress codes) or if it's a "same shit, different industry" type of situation.

DE&I is now a core leadership competency. If you are managing diverse talent, it’s important to understand what the term “privilege” means within a DE&I context so you can lead your team to higher levels of inclusivity+develop optimal strategies for solutioning around team issues/challenges. Everyone has some aspect of privilege depending upon the context. Privilege means the absence of obstacles/barriers, not necessarily the presence of perks. Though some would say *that* itself is a perk.

Hey Fishes,

Need likes & emojis
Can I get some
N here's some humour
What's the logic behind likes & reactions after 12 emojis and then we getto send a DM?
Boss: just do what is informed to be done, Don try to be over smart
Employee : I think this is the smartest way to jus DM Directly instead of getting likes & other reactions. Do you think that's really imp.?
Boss : in his mind this guy is too much chaalo...
Let me shift him to other team or.let me see if.i.can kick him out..
Lol!!

When your seniors aren’t motivated and pulling their weight, it shows and demotivates you. It’s a domino effect. How do you handle these situations? The senior pushes every single thing down and it’s clear to everyone this person could care less. Makes me not care and not want to do anything either…

Over the past year, my counsel is constantly judged by a select few senior business folks (eg arguing over FTC compliance, IP risk counsel, and even simple things regarding NDAs that any attorney wouldn’t question. It’s very frustrating that my own team is the one I have to defend my logic to (and not opposing counsel). It feels like they want a rubber stamper, which is not me.I never faced this at my prior in-house roles (probably because they were much a larger). Any advice on how to handle?

Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.

Discrimination question. I’ve been passed for several job opportunities in the last 4 years. This one is going to make some of y’all mad, but it’s so annoyingly unnecessary. The most irritating part is “is it a shirt day or a skirt day”…. Like women don’t wear shirts with skirts and men don’t wear shirts with pants. Shirts and skirts are not mutually exclusive. I’ll just leave this here.
