Only debt I have is mortgage and car. Car will be paid off next year. I don’t have kids and don’t plan too.

I’m really bored with life and think I’ll be bored if and when I decide to retire. (Im 40 btw). Am I crazy to stop saving in my savings account and just to start spending it on things I like to do aka traveling.

Side note, I plan to continue to contribute to my 401k and I will always have 4-5 months of expenses In my savings ( just don’t plan to go beyond that)

No.....most people don't have that much disposable income. Go travel.

I’m 25 and really bored with life too. No debt and paid off my car and over 6 figures in saving. To relief myself of my boredom, I’m planning to take a 3 week trip and travel everywhere

Both - I have my retirement account & my own personal portfolio & an HYSA for majority of my $

Bored at home means you will be bored abroad. Don’t run away from your demons. Sure, travel if you want, but consider therapy, church, friendships, charitable work, hobbies….things that are in your ‘real’ everyday life. I learned fast from dating apps that people who ‘love travel’ are sometimes amazing people who engage with the world, and sometimes they are desperate people on the run. Don’t join the wrong pack.

Maybe if you can deal with the higher payments for the next 3 years and sell/refinance above today’s prices you’ll be ok, but this isn’t going to be pretty.

My financial advisor mentioned Nationwide Variable Universal Life Insurance Accumulator would be a good financial instrument as we are now in a higher tax bracket. This type of life insurance seems complicated and has some fees attached that stresses me out (although the return sounds better than other life insurance).
