Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

That has been pretty standard in my experience, though the change from one method to another is a bit of a red flag. At my current company, there is a % range and where we will fall in that range is dependent on our reviews.

that's standard in my experience as well too
I suppose that might be worrisome if it's a break from tradition. I've always worked in situations where raises were on a per person basis, though that was never really stated. If your organization has always done raises for the whole department, this could indicate that some people are about to get stiffed.
I think it’s how they’ve always done it here, I just didn’t really know what the general normal was.
That’s very normal from my experience
Okay that’s a nice relief!
It’s normal from my experience. It’s performance based. So, it sounds like they are evaluating everyone’s performance individually, which is not a bad thing.
Okay cool, it sounds okay but from someone who’s never had one before, I didn’t know if it was shady or not.
