Over the last few weeks, I’ve had several awkward conversations with our managing partner about a few cases. In these, I feel like I end up being the punching bag for group or others decisions/mistakes. I’ve stayed silent so far because I don’t want to come off as petty or as a “tattler” but I can’t keep letting this happen. Thoughts for addressing? Thanks.

Could you provide an example, to give us a sense of the type of behavior that’s happening?

If the *leader* of the firm doesn’t take responsibility, it’s a red flag about culture.

If you’re a woman and/or person of color, scapegoating is a common phenomenon.

Deflecting blame without overtly throwing people under the bus is an art.

For example, if a senior associate is holding up a document and you’re getting chased, instead of taking the blame or explaining how it’s not your fault, you say “let me check in with [senior associate] and confirm”.

Hi everyone. I'm pretty early in my career (just over 1 YOE) & not really enjoying my current role as a Consultant/Developer because of the type of projects I get combined with some mobility issues. However, I'm really interested in technical program management or project management and I'm looking for any advice on how to get there bc I've been applying, but can't even seem to get a call back.

My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. The issue is I left the company because of an abusive manager who constantly put me down and made me feel like I wasn’t doing anything right. If I come back I’d be working under her again. I’m torn because the opportunity is great but the stress was awful. Continued in comments…

Also, suggest out of 5% bonus, how much do they give to an average employee.
And what is the cycle they consider for performance appraisal, and for bonus. Is it from April to March or Jan to Dec. ?

Currently in the final stages of the interviewing process for a "non-partnership track attorney" position at a top-ranked big law firm. I graduated from law school in 2019, and my eventual goal would be to work as an Associate on the partnership track at a medium-sized firm. Will this position "stain" my resume compared to staying in my current position as an attorney for an SRO?

I'm in a litigation, about 9 months in. Is it normal that I spend majority of my time making bundles for my partners (printing, binding, moving docs in a different order whenever there are new documents or he wants to add stuff) reviewing documents and making tables (e.g. dates, which documents are from where), and the only legal work is like notices of admission, list of documents, the occasional research? I'm so bored and I want to quit but I don't know if I have unrealistic expectations.
