I guess cloud technologies are paying well. Data Engg, Devops, AI or ML engineer, Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Snowflake developer etc are paying well.
Been in QA automation for 3 yrs, what do you suggest should i switch to devops or take a DS course and get into data engineering?
With 7.5 yoe, I had salary of 8.5 LPA and I am graduate of IIT. Hope that makes you feel better.

Can someone please suggest how can an automation QA earn this much?
I am stuck in 26.5+ some bonus @8.8 yoe.
I am 4.5 yrs exp qa tester. My current CTC is 12lpa and I am holding my first offer of 20lpa.
It feels good until you see people with same experience as you earning 60+lpa. Also prices of houses, cars, etc., is constantly increasing so 40 lpa doesn't feel any different from 20 lpa.
1.5 lac is base salary today - if you have to pay rent, look after your family

It's not always about the high CTC but also about the job security and peace of mind.
Both me and my friend switched our jobs at the same time when we had 3.5 years of experience. She got a crazy offer of 24 LPA with a unicorn company. But after joining, she was constantly under high work pressure and stress and finally had to quit from there (layoff but not on papers).
On the other hand, I made a constant growth and emphasised on the work-life balance along with continuous learning. I feel I am more satisfied.

Leetcode and be good in algorithms and try to find a job in a product based company. 40LPA is below average for someone who works at such companies.

my peers are 14-15 years exp while i am just 7 and have no post graduation. worked hard to get here. got amazing opportunities to which i never said no. Kept pushing myself and got great managers who trusted me.
in a fully remote position now. travelling and working. Living the dream life i want. I knew what i wanted and kept making choices that gave me the life i wanted even though it was difficult.

Ist switch->7.5 +1(yearly hike)
2nd switch ->17 + 1 (yearly hike)
All 3 are service based company
4.5 Years 18 I feel it is low considering my skill set

And then there’s me when I earning 10 LPA when my experience was 7 years.
Now it's ~6yrs of Jira admin exp. I'm also learning Azure and targeting certs, but don't know how much would i be able to do without actual industry exp.
Before that it was mostly 2nd level support for a few corporate tools used by the client. Sure i used to explore skills but it was spread too thin.
I didn't think i had much of marketable skill exp.
