There’s a lot of value in Queens. Love the city but love those Queens square footage prices even more

This is the second time they’ve angrily brought up brunch lol. Chill out and enjoy a Bloody Mary dude

Looool God I can't stand people like you. I've met people like you, you project your short-comings on others because you can't afford Manhattan.
Every borough, and every section of the city is so different than the other. Each one has it's own vibe and pros/cons. Everyone's personality fits a different area and that's why I love the city, there's so much variety. Wyf would I care where people choose to live?
I've grown up in the suburbs, Brooklyn has a more suburban vibe than Manhattan which a lot of my friends that live there like and moved for that reason. I don't need that and love that every single place in my neighborhood stays open way late. I've had a few jobs in the past move to BK. The commute was an absolute nightmare. Trains don't frequent as much, constant train changes (THE A IS NOW THE D), extremely crowded trains, horrendous travel inside BK, and worse infrastructure all around. Also the things I saw 😳.
Plus I'm from NJ, I'm not moving to a more expensive apartment just for my commute to get longer. I'd just stay home then. I'd rather live in Manhattan near my job. I also have friends and family from NJ, PA, Boston, CT. It's so easy to get to NJ & PA from Manhattan. If I moved to BK, they'd visit less and so would I.

Keep it coming. You’d insult me no matter my position
You sound like you live in Astoria and claim to live in Manhattan

OP has only a specific group of people they like and anyone else is beneath them + they make up random opinions about strangers.
According to the OP:
1. You can't prefer Manhattan or you're a pretentious out of towner.
2. However if you've grown up in Manhattan your whole life then you're from generational wealth therefore also pretentious and somehow not a "real new yorker," even though it's the only place you've ever called home.
3. Above 96th street is not manhattan.
4. Only some of Brooklyn is worth living in. Red hook and other parts are laughable to the OP.
5. NJ is a joke to the OP even if people living there are lower income. OP thinks its funny that you can't afford rent in BK I guess.
6. Rent stabilization and roommates do not exist.
It really does sound like OP is a transplant trying way too hard.

People say this and then live somewhere in BK where it takes them 45 minutes to get anywhere and the train only comes once every 15 minutes
D2 - where do you live? I’m in fort Greene. Pretty sweet commute back and forth. Also most of the time I dont even need to go to the city. Everything that’s in Manhattan we have walking distance in this area: Whole Foods, TJs, local supermarkets, parks, gyms (high to low end), laid back bars and restaurants, pet care, etc etc.
Who hurt you OP
The person who broke their heart 😭😂
I’m going to guess OP is the same type of person mad that they can’t get laid after they disclose to their dating matches that they live in Jersey but demands to only date Manhattanites

No matter what my answer was you would’ve insulted me which I find amusing
I cringe when a junior acts this way. Thank you for telling me you’re either bankrolled by your parents or incredibly bad with money…

To be fair to D1, advertising starting salaries are like 40K. Which is insane to live in Manhattan on

ok
Us to you
This needs more love
The fact that people still care about this debate is so sad.
Ok, let them amuse you. You probably amuse them. Next
For the record, I never wanted to live in Manhattan, living in Hoboken would save me on rent and 4% taxes but everyone I talked to from nyc said if you’re doing the nyc experience, experience living in Manhattan once before moving to Brooklyn/Astoria

I agree in general. Thanks for a more productive comment. My post was geared towards those who are adamant and look down on living anywhere else or people that live elsewhere. Thank you for recognizing that and responding with a good comment

Please keep telling everyone how bad Manhattan is so that they’ll stop moving here!
Interesting how OP wants to hide where they live cause they can’t take it 😹
I used to dislike Manhattan/ New York City in general but then I began to like it a lot. The restaurants, activities, and the convenience of everything are unparalleled
With everything one level down, sure
Apparently, you have never lived in Manhattan. 😂

Yeah I have, and it’s great. Not saying it’s not. Missing the point of the post
OP missed therapy this week and is taking it out on here.
Manhattan is fine but people grossly overrate how close they are to work. I live in BK / work in Lower Manhattan and unless you live on Wall Street I’m getting to and from work faster than most people who live in the City.
People generally live in Manhattan b/c of the scene and subconsciously they think Brooklyn has too many black people. Any other reason is largely bullshit.
And yes, I can easily afford to live in Manhattan.

Not everyone works in FiDi. I like walking to work. I like walking to the theater. I even like walking to the train station on an especially nice day. I like biking around. I don’t like walking or biking over bridges on a regular basis and especially in the winter.
Sounds like you have a situation that works for you. Great! Others have different circumstances. Move on.
