Use Outlook scheduling assistant instead of Teams to gauge availability
D1 I think OP is saying they put appointments on their calendar
Don’t know how senior you are OP but when I’m on a project, I usually have meetings 75% of the day or more with some slots double or triple booked. Often that includes lunch meetings or after 5 or 6 pm meetings. And those are just meetings - I have actual work I own to get done too.
So yes, some of us actually are that busy and wish people would write an email or ping us with their question so we can determine if another meeting is truly needed. Most of the time, it really isn’t.
I personally block my entire day for heads down time to get actual work done and leave a few openings for meetings but I’m pretty flexible if someone pings me wanting to meet

Because putting in work blocks is the only way I have time for pen-to-paper or focused thinking.
I use unavailable all the time vs busy. The status is wildly inaccurate. My calendar is up to date. I get pings all the time anyway which is completely fine and expected. What it does is force some people to look at my calendar OR more importantly- instead of just randomly video chatting me out of no where I get a ping asking if I’m available. There was nothing more frustrating than being in the middle of working on something like salesforce updates or pitch ditch content and because it was “green” people would just video chat/call out of no where. At least now, I see the ping notification, finish what I’m doing, and then transition to the ping.
It does NOT block my calendar out. People can still see if I’m in a meeting or not, and schedule appropriately.
I know a whole workgroup that sets their status as “unavailable”. They want you to contact them via Via engage. I just ping them anyway…maybe they fool some people.
Workshops
They are over achievers and attend every meeting they are invited to.
That makes them underachievers who can’t get anything done because they spend all their time in meetings.

Because I don’t want more meetings. Begone.
Ping them anyway, use schedule assistant for meetings
Rising Star
Team status and calendars are separate things. Aren’t they?

I’ll mark as “tentative” and not show up
