Lots of vineyards around central virginia, go to BBQ exchange in Gordonsville, best BBQ I've ever had in my life. (I've actually driven down there just for the day from DC just for the food) wintergreen mountain will be beautiful with the leaves being all colors, and cheap because they're not making snow for skiing yet.
Also, I'm Hispanic. Should I have any concerns about driving through the south as a colored person? Any areas to avoid?
Hahaha I was jk, but seriously hope you have fun. As a minority that's traveled in the South before, I'd say you guys are ok as long as you stick to the bigger cities.
If you guys are into cars, the BMW plant does tours in Greer SC which is pretty interesting to see
