The opportunity cost is low, but the reality is a lot of these firms use "prestige " factors like prior firm and law school as soft filters. There are exceptions though if you can otherwise present yourself as a strong candidate with the relevant experience
Never count yourself out of a race before you start. Who cares if it’s “possible.” Even if it’s a long-shot, try! And if you get an interview don’t you dare pass on a great opportunity because you might be rejected. Use it to build your network. Use it to learn how you can make yourself more marketable. Use it to show the firm that excellent litigators can come out of any number of firms, not just the AmLaw 25.
Maybe you don’t get the job, but don’t say no to yourself before someone else does.

Highly improbable in litigation
Never hurts to try.

Lots of factors, but the smaller the market the more likely the move. Good luck!
Also probably more likely if you are more senior, every firm needs mid-levels/senior associates
Midlaw often has solid training and exposure to real work early on, so you may have strong skills that set you apart, so go for it. It'll be more money in the short term but far smaller prospects of making partner.
Update: Got the job. Let’s do this! 😃
